We have asked a few of our foodie friends – from customers and staff to our favourite suppliers – to get involved, share the love and tell us just what it is that keeps them coming back to Buzzworks.
The Baker family from Dundonald book a big table at Scotts every Sunday morning for breakfast, there is always a huge table of them – from babies to grandparents! They visit Scotts for casual get togethers as well as family celebrations.
We love Scotts because of the fantastic quality of the food, amazing staff and fabulous setting by the sea. The kids are always well-entertained too. We visit every Sunday morning as we love the breakfasts! If we are in for dinner it has to be some fresh fish.
Our favourite Scotts memory is our Grandaughter’s 1st communion – all the family were made to feel very welcome. It’s like a laid-back home from home for us, we bring friends here all the time too.
Dylan – Server & Bartender
Dylan is a full time server and bartender and has worked at Corner House since it opened in Kilwinning last September.
I love working as part of the team at Corner House and getting to know all the customers, the pace of it is great and there’s always good company.
Before I started in hospitality I wasn’t too adventurous with food, but thanks to my training and working with the chefs I’ll now try anything!
When it come to a day off, my favourite venue to dine in is Lido Prestwick. I love the half chicken from the Churrasco grill with Piri Piri glaze and rosemary & sea salt potato wedges – so tasty!
Tricia Bey – Barwheys Dairy
Tricia is the maker of Barwheys Traditional Ayrshire Cheese and one of our favourite suppliers. Like us, she is passionate about local produce!
Barwheys cheese is an old fashioned cheddar cheese made by hand by our small team of cheesemakers. The milk from our special herd of Ayrshire cows is naturally sweet and creamy and we don’t pasteurise the milk so it lends all of its lovely complex flavours to the cheese. The cheese is matured for a year and this process increases the complexity of the flavours.
It isn’t just us that think that the cheese is great – we have won Gold medals at the Royal Highland Show for the last 6 years and we have also won Best Scottish Cheese, Best Scottish Cheddar and Reserve Champion cheese at various times.
In times past the cheese industry on Ayrshire was booming with most dairy farms producing cheese. Nowadays there are only 2 of us producing traditional handmade cheese in the whole of Ayrshire.
Buzzworks have always been really supportive of local producers – and they always name the producers on the menu which helps to build awareness. They are very creative in their kitchens, coming up with great new ways of using local produce. My favourite venues are Elliotts and Lido. I love fish and tapas – style dining and both are flexible and unstuffy but serve great food!
Laurent Labede – Head Chef, Elliots & Lido
Laurent loves being a part of the Buzzworks team and always coming up with new ideas and inspirations for the menus at both Lido and Elliots. He is well-traveled and puts an international twist on the menus.
Laurent is from France and was classically trained as a chef by his dad. He then went on to Italy, Germany and Tahiti (this was a large influence on his passion for seafood). Laurent is still a keen traveler and enjoys his holidays around trying new foods. He’s been to Vietnam and India the past two years and loves the Asian style of food.
I believe people fell in love with food for many reasons but to me it bring people together at the table where all the stories, gossip, and plans for the future happen. The love of food is so important and food is a key part of spending time with my family – you never stop learning.
Jade – Assistant Manager
Jade loves the fast-paced hospitality environment and the fact that no two days are the same here. There are so many opportunities to progress and she has learned so much about different areas of the industry.
Lido Prestwick is my favourite venue to dine in – I like the varied and quirky menu! A group of us recently went to the new-look Treehouse in Ayr and from start to finish our food was phenomenal! I had the prawn and avocado starter which was delicious, followed but the Katsu curry – it was so light and tasty one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time!
I feel that every Buzzworks venue should be proud of the food they serve. They are all unique and so much though goes into the making of each menu. We now have 10 venues, all which are very successful so we are clearly doing something right and I’m proud to say I work for Buzzworks!
